Destin: A Family Destination

Destin: A Family Destination #Blue water of Destin, Florida.

1. Time Away with Family

Children grow up so fast, and being able to step away to take stock of what is important in life is something that just comes naturally on the beach. So, take a moment, dig your toes into our beautiful white sand beaches, and watch the kids build mini palaces in the sand!

2. Crab Island

Truly a unique experience, Crab Island is truly a must-see destination. Contrary to its name, Crab Island is now just a large Caribbean blue water sand bar north of Harborwalk village. Crab Island was an island at one point, but drifting sands from the Gulf of Mexico eroded it over time, leaving us with what is now a sandbar where thousands of boats tie up. You will need a boat to get there but don’t worry; there is no shortage of companies. You can rent a pontoon boat (no previous experience, just a short 30-minute lesson required). Once you are there, remember to bring your rafts, snacks, and a sense of adventure.

3. Amazing Food

Whether it is a high-end restaurant like Emerils, Bijoux Bijoux, or a humbler affair like Pepitos Mexican, The Original Dewey Destin’s, Thai Delights, or McGuires, your taste buds will never want you to leave.

4. Deep Sea Fishing

Destin is named “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village”, and for good reason! Deep Sea fishing is a staple activity for everyone. Whether you are a first-time angler or a Trophy fish hunter, our local fleet has someone to help! Throughout the year, there are many fishing tournaments that bring competitive fishermen to the area. Most fishing boats offer full-service trips with licensed crew, tackle, licenses, bait, and ice.

5. Big Kahuna’s

With more than 40 water attractions, Big Kahuna offers a wide variety of fun in the sun for every age. Whether you enjoy the thrill of a waterslide or want to relax in the lazy river, Big Kahuna’s will be a hit for everyone. There is even a half pipe for those surfers at heart, with 36,000 gallons of water flowing per minute. Big Kahuna’s has been Destin’s one and only water park for over 25 years.

6. Gulfarium

Who doesn’t love dolphins and sea turtles? The Gulfarium offers various exhibits where you can interact with the animals. Several unique exhibits include snorkeling with stingrays or giving a smooch to a harbor seal! The Gulfarium also offers a sunset camp, which provides parents with an evening out with their children, an unforgettable experience that includes a dolphin encounter, sunset beach exploring, ocean-themed activities, scavenger hunts, and even dinner with the seals!

7. Harborwalk Village

Harborwalk Village is your one-stop shop for fun. Young or old Harborwalk offers anything you could expect from that downtown harbor “hot spot.” There is a wide variety of waterfront restaurants, shopping, watersport rentals, parasailing, concerts, fishing boats, dolphin cruises, nightlife, and even weekly fireworks across Destin harbor!

8. South Walton and 30A

You may have seen the stickers adorning cars in your hometown proudly displayed. 30A. From Miramar Beach down to Rosemary Beach, enjoy a scenic drive to revile any other road trip in America. Stop by themed Neighborhoods, neat and tidy, Seaside with classically beautiful beach homes, Food truck vendors, and people riding bikes in droves. The neighborhood was used to film the movie “The Truman Show.”
