Destin is Going to the Dogs: Destin Dog Park and Rentals

On Saturday, January 7, 2012, Destin Pet friendly rental guests and residents had a big reason to celebrate as Destin welcomed the Destin Dog Park. Over 150 pet owners and their four-legged companions were on hand for Saturday’s Park opening.

It was a huge achievement for all the volunteers and fundraisers who spent the past year making the park possible for our residents and pet friendly vacation rental guests. Volunteers raised an impressive $38,928, matched by $30,000 in city funding for the park’s construction.

The roughly acre-and-a-half park sits at the intersection of Indian Bayou Drive and Commons Drive and has separate parks for big dogs and small dogs. The park will be open each day from Dawn until Dusk.

Continued improvements are even on the horizon, adding a “beach,” water features for the little guys, enhanced landscaping, and other surprises.

So, for our Destin pet friendly rental guests to get to the park, take Hwy 98 heading west towards Fort Walton Beach, go past the Walmart Shopping Center, turn right between the Palms and Bubba Gump Shrimp, go straight at the roundabout, and the dog park will be on your left.
